As anyone who knows me can attest, I am a huge proponent of the adoption of mindfulness practices. I believe that there are a multitude of benefits from learning about and bringing this spirit of kind open and nonjudgmental awareness to our lives.
Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) is a widely researched method of learning mindfulness practices. Many studies of the MBSR curriculum have attested to its positive health effects.
Attending an MBSR group and learning from a trained instructor, along with the other participants, is the ideal way to learn to incorporate such practices into your life. However, I recognize there can be significant barriers to participating in this way.
Dave Potter, who is a trained MBSR facilitator, generously offers a free online MBSR program at Palouse Mindfulness.
I have completed his program myself (as well as attending an in-person version here in Vancouver) and I am thrilled with the content he is providing. A lot of work and love has clearly gone into crafting a meaningful online version of the MBSR program. He continues to update the material and has created a beautiful experience for those who are unable to attend a course.
I encourage you to check it out and let me know what you think in the comments below.
