Today I’d like to introduce you to the Declaration Deck.
This deck is a valuable tool for both clients and counsellors – it invites you to discover more about yourself and your own journey as you explore the themes and words of empowerment on each card.
Theresa Thomas at In-Power Counselling uses a trauma-informed, feminist, non-oppressive, decolonizing framework in her therapeutic approach. When she noticed that the available resources to support her clients were lacking, she developed the Declaration Deck.
For those of us coping with health conditions. the words and ideas on these cards alert us to the possibility of finding strength and hope even on the days when our health is challenging. For example, on drawing the Respect card, you might open to the idea of allowing yourself to take up space and to request the support you need to manage your physical and emotional health.
From Theresa’s website:
This is not a self-help deck and these are not affirmations. This is a Declaration Deck!
To declare something is to formally and officially make it known. With the help of this deck you will be able to declare who you are, and how you want to live.
This deck is a valuable resource for anyone who wants to grow, to heal, and to gain the tools to stand in their own power, and know peace. Add this deck to your daily routine! Get one for a friend and go on the journey together 🙂
